Another mine water enthusiast

Hi! My name is Terry Harck.
I work for Golder Associates in South Africa where I lead our Environmental Chemistry Division. The division includes 7 geochemists of varying education and experience. My own education includes an M.Sc in Geology and an M.Sc in Environmental Geochemistry. I have had one foot in hydrogeology and the other in geochemistry for about 17 years now.
My professional interest is in helping to understand and manage water issues on mines. In particular, the characterisation of contamination sources such as waste rock dumps, tailings dams, slag piles, ash dams, etc. A lot of my work at present is developing source-terms for these contamination sources so that groundwater quality impacts can be assessed.
