IMWA — Mine Water Forum

A coal mine is being proposed about 1000' from a residential area in Alaska, and on the immediate boundary of a salmon stream. It is not known yet if there is a hydrologic connection that could impact drinking water wells. The groundwater is alkaline and relatively high in sodium (about 20 mg/L). Does anyone know of studies looking at the effects of coal mining in alkaline areas?
